Nafas is an empathy-led platform dedicated to destigmatise mental health, by offering culturally tailored and accessible online mental health care to the Arab community, particularly those in conflict areas.
Mental health is heavily stigmatised in many Arab countries, leading to low therapy usage—only 21% of Palestinians in Israel seek help. Research shows over 70% of the Arab community in Israel experiences psychological distress, with 45% showing symptoms. Even those who want help face significant barriers, including long waiting lists for public services (up to three years) and long waits for private care (at least six months).
These delays worsen individual mental health conditions, leading to higher rates of chronic stress, anxiety, and depression, which can eventually affect physical health and further burden healthcare systems.
